"Nearly 4 out of 10 teenage girls get pregnant at least once
before they reach 20, resulting in more than 900,000 teen pregnancies
a year."
-- National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy
- The Ready or Not? Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program focuses on the “Why Not” to get pregnant rather than the "How Not" to get pregnant.
- Students receive first-hand information about the realities of parenting at a young age.
- Students participate in a "Parenting" simulation with a Baby Think It Over Infant Simulator over the weekend.
- Students participate in classroom activities that encourage them to look at their own ideas and beliefs about teen pregnancy.
- The program stimulates communication about teen pregnancy between the students and their parents through several take-home assignments.
The Ready or Not? Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program makes an Impact! After participating in the program students are able to:
- Identify risk factors associated with teen pregnancy
- Identify the financial obligations and consequences of teen parenting
- Identify the value of postponing parenthood
The Ready or Not program is currently available in Northern Colorado only.
