Pregnancy Counseling

Services Offered

  1. Counseling: Confidential counseling is available at no cost to persons experiencing an unintended pregnancy. This counseling is available to the mother, the father, and their families during the pregnancy and for up to six months following delivery. Clients and their families are supported in exploring their feelings about the pregnancy, telling significant others, and in examining their options.
  2. Parenting Support: Many young people choose the option of parenting their baby. There are resources and support available for single parents today that did not exist in the past. Our Lutheran Family Services’ counselors help expectant parents prepare for the birth of the child, learn about caring for an infant, secure needed housing and other material resources, and arrange for child care.
  3. Open Adoption: Some clients choose adoption because of goals they have for their future or because they are just not ready to become parents. The wishes of the birth parents are always respected in adoption planning. When the choice for adoption is made, the staff of Lutheran Family Services believes an open adoption will best serve the needs of the birth parents and the child.
