Boomers Leading Change in Health Partnership Continued

Older Adult and Caregiver Services (OACS) program at Lutheran Family Services is thrilled to announce that its partnership with Boomers Leading Change in Health will continue for another year.  When the first year’s grant was not extended by AmeriCorps, Serve Colorado which administers AmeriCorps grants decided the program was too effective to let go and determined to find funds to continue it. On September 25th, LFS was notified that our grant would be extended for another year. This means that Barbara Bollmann will be with us through 2013!  Barbara is the OACS Intake and Referral Coordinator and is often the first person that our clients talk to when they call to find out more information.  Barbara is so kind and compassionate and this comes out in her work with older adults and their families when they call.  She gently gathers information from callers and recommends services that will best meet their needs.

When asked to comment on the grant’s extension, Barbara said, “I’m am thrilled to pieces! I love my work here and believe that having someone dedicated to the Older Adult and Caregiver Services (OACS) Information and Referral line is most effective and efficient. It provides onestop ‘shopping’ for clients as well as smooth transitions from Intake and Referral (I&R) to ongoing care management and/or counseling. It allows the rest of the staff to concentrate on what they do best – direct service. Since I’ve been here, I’ve noticed an increase in referrals and less waiting time between I&R and the beginning of care management and counseling.”
